’’SWARM KIRUNA’’ / Zhaochen Wang, Shujla Chen, Jili Huang / Sweden

'Swarm Kiruna' is a Master of Architecture thesis project developed at the University of Southern California by recent graduates Zhaochen Wang, Shujia Chen and Jili Huang. The project is an investigation of swarm intelligence and slime mould and its translation into urban and architectural design.

The project creates an architecture which aims to create a half urban and half nature prototype space which could be covered by temperature sensitive glass that adjusts to light and wind. It explores the relationship between people and urban design with an adaptive project that responds to external and internal stimuli. The building appears as a dynamic surface that changes color in real time according to specific requirements.
